(Florida) S&W model one, 2nd issue .22 pocket revolver - $ 600
S&W model one, 2nd issue .22 pocket revolver S# 65548 for sale or trade. The model one was the first firearm the newly formed Smith and Wesson company produced. It was one of the world's very first cartridge revolvers. The design was popular enough that the patent had to be defended (successfully) in court. It was also the world's first gun to be chambered in .22 rimfire. What a great time to start a firearms company with the Civil War starting a few years later. The model one must have been an effective self defense gun in a world of mostly single shots with laborious reloads.
This particular revolver was made early enough that is was likely carried during the Civil War, but it is still in working order! It was recently fired using ORIGIONAL BLACK POWER ONLY .22 SHORT cartridges. Though most of the original silver plating is intact, some of the brass frame can be seen on the wear points. Some of the original bluing is still on the barrel and cylinder and the bore is clean with sharp rifling. As a point of interest the rifling has no twists but is straight. The butt has a few dents. Isn't in funny how some people use a fine firearm as a hammer? Also one of the grips may have been chipped during the aforementioned hammering and was repaired. The revolver appears to have been disassembled and a few of the pins were replaced. All in all this is a very nice relic of the Civil War era and early S&W revolver development. "The Hawken rifle was a muzzle loading rifle built by the Hawken brothers, and used on the prairies and in the Rocky Mountains of the United States during the early frontier days. It has become synonymous with the "plains rifle", the buffalo gun, and the fur trapper's gun. Developed in the 1820s, it was eventually displaced by breechloaders (such as the Sharps rifle) and lever-action rifles which flourished after the Civil War.
The Hawken "plains rifle" was made by Jacob and Samuel Hawken, in their St. Louis, Missouri shop, which they ran from 1815 to 1858. Their shop continued to operate and sell rifles bearing the "Hawken" name under later owners William S. Hawken, William L. Watt, and J. P. Gemmer, until Gemmer closed down the business and retired in 1915.
Samuel and Jacob were trained by their father as rifle smiths on the east coast. They moved west and opened a business in St. Louis at the beginning of the Rocky Mountain fur trade. The brothers' claim to fame is the "plains rifles" produced by their shop. They produced what their customers needed in the west, a quality gun, light enough to carry all the time, capable of knocking down big targets at long range. (Phoenix) Diamondback DB9 9mm Flat Dark Earth FDE - $ 380
I'm selling my Diamondback DB9 in FDE (Flat Dark Earth). Very small and easily concealable pistol and the color is somewhat hard to find. I put approx 200 rounds through it without a problem however I purchased it for my wife and it's just too snappy for her to use. If you haven't shot this gun before, it does have some kick due to it's light weight and small size. Not really a range toy, but makes for a really nice deep concealment pistol.
There was some bad press when these first came out due to one of the trigger pins walking out and some spotty reliability reports. This is the latest generation with 3 reinforced trigger pins (instead of 2 in the previous gen), the reliability issues have also been fixed by working the feed ramp and I believe they adjusted the spring weights. All I can say is this particular gun has been flawless and would keep it if the recoil were more manageable.
I will NOT consider any trades, I already purchased the replacement for this gun. Cash from AZ residents only.
I'm asking $380 which includes the firearm, magazine and original box and documentation. This is a fair price considering the local gunshop asking prices and sales tax, not to mention the rare color and no 4473 ATF form to fill out.
