This rifle has a 6-digit serial number. I researched the serial numbers and it was made in April 1918. It has a beautiful walnut stock and markings on the stock, and it has a cannon ball and flame arsenal markings on the barrel and the receiver. These rifles were used in WW1 and WW2. During WW2 they made scope rifles out of some of these for our snipers because they were so accurate. This rifle has not been modified in any way. There looks like a very small crack in the very front top of the handguard, it's hard to see unless you know it's there. The gun is complete, I have never shot it. My dad bought it at an estate sale many years ago. I noticed there's an R on the bolt, for Remington, that's normal for these guns because after the war, some of them were arsenal reconditioned. The barrel is shiney and in excellent condition, there's not pitting or dark spots. I know Remington, Winchester and Eddystone made these rifles. Personally I like the Eddystone, I've seen them all and that's just my personal preferrence. I talked to two gun collectors about what I'm asking for this rifle, they said it was a good value. I priced some of these recently, they were going for $800.00 and the barrels were dark and pitted and it looked like some of the barrels were shot out, and they were still selling them for that price. I just put an old strap on it, I think it came off an old M1 or an Enfield rifle, I'm not sure.
Please, serious inquiries only.

This is the same rifle that Sgt. York used in WW1. Even though it's not the same rifle that was used in the movie with Gary Cooper, it's a fact that his regiment was issued this rifle. There are people who would be glad to debate me over this, and that's okay.
LOCAL AND CASH ONLY SALE. PRICE IS FIRM. This is as low as I can go on the price, I originally had it listed for $1000. and now I've lowered it to $800.
