(Illinois) Mauser 1896 civilian Marksmanship 300M diopter rifle + Norma - $ 800
Shipping available. Swedish Mauser by Carl Gustaf, 1896 version, with later Elit diopter sights and pistol grip.
All SN match, except of course the sight. Original rear sight still atop barrel (not swung below), original front sights and stock bolt also with gun, full set of Elit apertures, tool, case. Includes 1896 sling, muzzle guard for cleaning, cleaning rod extender (not SNs), brush, and twin solvent flask. Incl. 400 rounds NORMA Prikskytte sniper/match M96 ammunition, still in original sealed packs, and 20 LiteMag progressive powder load 6.5x55 cartridges (Hornady). The Norma cases now sell for about 0.75-1.00 PER CASING but these are Swedish military cases and bullets. Rifle not sold without the cartridges, or visa versa unless the cartridge offer is pretty high. The gun is was NOT originally a marksmanship competition gun. The Elit sights, pistol grip, and target trigger shoe were added later, and are not date-correct for this rifle.
Gun is in excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically. Sold because it has been replaced by Tanner and G&E rifles in other calibers for precision use. It can not complete with those rifles. This rifle has NOT had its barrel floated or bedded. The floating of the barrel likely would need to be done for improved accuracy, to realize the full accuracy of the rifle.
The Carl Gustaf 1896 were the best of the entire Mauser line, unless perhaps one includes the SIG 205 CISM rifles in that consideration. Those are better guns. Very few of these were made, with the ones by Mauser itself, or the Swedish follow-on contractor, Husquevarna, not as good.
Shipping costs depend on what type of permit it is transferred (C&E or FFL). Direct transfer is possible in IL or NH. If in IL, FOID is required, at least 24 hrs in advance of transfer. In NH, any of a number of IDs are suitable (firearms carry permit, residence ID with local police department check, etc) or FFL/C&R FFL. Can ship USPS if desired also.
More pictures available, if base price is ok. Please don't ask for images if the idea is to haggle over pricing. The ammunition alone is worth around $400, and the sight set alone is work around $300-400. Not much leeway on this due to utility as a comparison rifle to the others.

End version of the legendary 208/International, the Smodel offers a 2 stage trigger with adjustable trigger position. The basic sight system, and interchangeable barrel weights with rail that can accept an optical sight mount were retained. The model offered is a commemorative version. Same as the other S models, but with a better finish, and gold lettering. The Morini grip is original to the gun, and has been modified slightly to correct the problems with the stock Morini grip shelf.
The S model uses a trigger system modified from the older 208, but similar to the 215 and the later 208 guns. These changes were made to reduce production cost. Trigger quality was neither improved nor decreased.
Like the S&W41, the 208 and the S model evolved from the Walther Olympia of the 1930s, which itself was an adaptation of the Reising Target Pistol. After an unsuccessful adaptation by Hammerli following WWII as the Hammerli Walther Olympia, the International saw the gun revised extensive with a far superior result. The 208, and by pass-through of the inheritance, is, in essence, the ultimate S&W41 that Smith and Wesson never made.
The barrel is a solid unit with the frame, with superb (close to 0.5 MOA) accuracy resulting. The trigger is excellent for consistency, and readily adjustable from about 400 gms to about 3000. In addition to having a "fine" adjustment, this gun offers a coarse adjustment system for rapid adjustment from heavy to light pull weights.
The S model is slightly LESS accurate than the older 208 guns, but the difference is very difficult to detect, and many prefer the S due to the adjustable trigger position and 2 stage option.
Gun weight can be adjusted by change in barrel weights (0-240 gm available). The original Hammerli grip is one of the best ever offered for a handgun.
Additional magazines (OEM Hammerli) available, and optional weights as above.

Roughly 7 commercial versions were offered, not counting the OSPs, prototypes, and commemorative editions. Here is most of what is available. Price for each gun is at the of EACH INDIVIDUAL description. Shipping runs $40 to 80 depending on method. Those that are “fixed” (lower offers NOT considered) have a !. There is a discount for multiple guns. No shipping charge for total purchases over $2500. On the others, close offers are considered. The stated price for each gun is with one magazine, but additional magazines for each are available, as are cantilevered frame weights and alternative grips (mostly not pictured). The 10” barrel fits all of the guns except for the one OSP that is imaged, or the .32 nickel upper section.
All CAN BE SHIPPED to the FFL of your choice. In many areas these guns are assault weapons so be sure they can be delivered to you. They are legal in .22lr, in CA, MA, MD, and some other states legal as well. All have 5 rd magazines standard, in .22lr. The Walther “James Bond” cases are available as well, but with gun purchase only.
The GSP (and OSP grandfather) is a direct descendant of of the Mauser C96, one of the first true military assault weapons. The OSP was the first such derivation, and evolved into the GSP via modifications by a Mauser engineer and gunsmith (Romitanski). Several prototypes and experimental versions followed, resulting in the first version GSP offered below. From there, a number of clones appeared in the 1960s from a variety of European origins (Germany, Sweden primarily), but the clones did not use the modular structure of the C96, OSP, or GSP.
The most recent clones are from Pardini and Morini. These are quite good pistols, but do not use the modular structure and component system to the extent of the GSP. Feed systems also is quite different. In the GSP, final feed actually is controlled by channels in the receiver, similar to the FN49. This assures essentially perfect feed, with no bullet tip damage, and is a key factor in the overwhelming continued popularity of the GSP, for decades.

The images, which include few NOT available, also show the 10" barrel on the 1st version GSP. When used on most of the later versions, the step-up for the barrel base is not evident. This barrel, alone, is $500 and not available separately from the guns. If used on the OSP, a .22lr magazines is advised, and use of Zimmer, ultralow velocity, or FP ammunition unless the recoil spring is changed to a GSP spring.

IL-FOID with state police confirmation is ok for pickup in IL with 3 day wait, but pickup can only be in locations where the guns are not classified as assault weapons. Pickup also is possible in NH for those qualified for receipt in that state. Confirmation with local police authorities will be requested, however, if FFL transfer is not used in NH.
